Choosing a drug report from Consumer Reports
Published Drug Reports
Downloading
one of their drug reports is easy. So is reading one, either online or printed
out. We urge you to print so you can show and discuss them with your doctor.
Their reports don't stint on the details you need, they are written for you,
the consumer/patient.
The reports are in what is called "PDF" format. You'll need the
software to open them on your computer and to print them out. This software can
be easily downloaded by clicking here.
Their reports compare prescription drugs by category—that is, drugs in the same
class that are used to treat a specific condition or illness, such as high
blood pressure, high cholesterol, allergies, coronary-artery disease,
heartburn, or depression. They combine an expert review of the scientific
evidence with pricing information.
Note that you can download summaries of their reports, too. These handy 2-page
summaries are available in English and Spanish. Their newest reports may not
yet have a 2-page summary since there is usually a lag between the posting of a
full report and their preparation of the summary.
